“Why, I wonder?' has been an exciting project for our children to take part in.  It has connected the children at Westbury-on-Severn CE Primary School once more with their natural environment, through activities that develop tradition skills, such as needlework, with natural materials.  Emma Tyer has brought an inspired sense of wonder and joy to the classroom as she works alongside the class teachers to enable the children in school to create beautiful art using traditional skills.  David Crunkhurn - Head Teacher, Westbury-on-Severn CE Primary School

“Emma has the ability to look at the world through the eyes of a child and is therefore able to use the appropriate tools to inspire and encourage the child to see the wonder in our world. Emma is gentle, encouraging and respectful and has a deep understanding of child development on an emotional and spiritual level.” R.G. "CREATIVE LEARNING"

CREATIVE SEASONAL SESSIONS FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Exploring our relationship to the natural world, through discussion, crafts, stories, song and practical activites.

Covering a wide range of curriculum topics.

These sessions encourage the child’s natural enthusiasm for knowledge and learning, helping them to develop their imaginative and creative abilities.

The children participate actively in guided discussion helping them to gain an understanding and knowledge of the natural world around them and our place as human beings in it, the effects we have on it and how we are supported by it.

The sessions will include creative projects which encourages the children to follow instructions and listen carefully but also give them the opportunity to explore their own creativity, learning how to move on after making mistakes, being challenged to do the unfamiliar and succeeding! Experiencing the satisfaction of creating something from natural materials in the world around them.

Through age appropriate seasonal songs and stories the children develop a sense of play, creativity and learning.

Emma also offers creative inset days for teachers.

I offer a creative learning style that encompasses a wide spectrum of material and tailor my sessions to suit individual needs. I can offer regular teaching sessions to individual children and small groups or one off sessions for larger groups of children. I offer formal learning through creative and seasonal activities which allow the child time to learn at their own pace.

We found Emma to be flexible, approachable, and friendly.

“Emma was engaging, the session was pacey and very good. We covered lots of things, including singing, acting, craft, role play. Emma had a gentle manner.” (TA comment)    Nailsworth Primary School

THE IMPORTANCE OF CREATIVE LEARNING AND PLAY

CREATIVE SESSIONS FOR INSET DAYS AND CPD

FOR TEACHERS OF EARLY YEARS AND PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN

WITH EMMA TYER

What is Creative learning and what place does it have in the Classroom?

What is childhood and do our children today have time to be a child, and what is the role of play in the life of a 21st century child?

These sessions explore the questions above and also look at our relationship with the natural world around us in supporting Creative learning.

Each session includes some craft activities to support

Classroom learning.

CREATING TOGETHER

Creative sessions for parents and children after school.

Sometimes finding time to spend being creative with your child is difficult in the busyness of today’s world.

These sessions offer a space to spend time being creative with your child, learning simple crafts that reflect the seasonal cycle and the natural world around us.
